Coffee Profile - Erin likes juice. She particularly loves pressed juice, such as “Simply Apple” and “Simply Orange”; however, she will drink any juice placed in front of her, which is why the Early Learning environment is so appropriate for her.Erin grew up in Yakima, in a family with many children. Although she hasn’t been in kindergarten since 1989, she is very excited to reenter this realm as WONDERLAND’s Kinder Bridge instructor. Erin loves school. She attended Trinity in Canada, and has a degree in Intercultural Religious Studies, with a concentration in Christian missions. She has worked with children in many capacities, including as camp director at Ghormley, and as the lead teacher in an EBD preschool classroom. Erin is married to her husband, Eferon. They are very involved in their church. Together they enjoy reading, camping and snowshoeing. Erin loves learning, and exploring God’s character and plan. Sheis especially enthusiastic about combining her love for God’s word into the realm of the Early Learning classroom. She believes that she and the children will teach and encourage one another.

Participational and presentational; ecumenical and eclectic; choral and instrumental; rockin" and contemplative; historic and contemporary - Canticles seeks to bring together the unique and diverse people of God through music, liturgy, and celebration. Offerings have included:Carols of ChristmasAn annual Advent-Christmas concert featuring our Chancel Choir, Westminster Ringers, Pipe Organ, and various vocal and instrumental ensembles. Celtic Praise!A raucous, yet prayerful, celebration of Christ for the whole family in the Celtic tradition featuring bagpipes, fiddle, accordion, choir, Irish whistle and all things Celtic!SpiritusAn contemplative experience of worship and prayer, often during Lent, in the traditions of Taize, Iona, Northumbria, or Lindisfarne. sevenfinding hope in John's ApocalypseThere is perhaps no other portion of scripture so widely feared, ridiculed, misunderstood, manipulated, dismissed, and discussed as Revelation. It has birthed strange movements, theologies, and philosophies, given fuel to charismatic leaders and proven both an inspiration and an Achilles heel to doomsday predictors throughout the centuries. From this text has arisen a dazzling and boggling glossary of terms that include words like dispensationalism, premillennialism, posttribulationists, preterists, futurists, historicists, dominionists, and favorite topics like apocalypse, Armageddon, rapture, the Beast, and the Anti-Christ.How are we to approach and understand this portion of scripture? What was it trying to say to those 1st-century Christians who first received it, and what does it have to say to we who follow Christ in the 21st century? Is it a book that talks about the future, and if so, when is that future and what is important about it? Is it a book that talks about the past, and if so, what events is it concerned with and what does that mean for us today? And, most importantly, what does this scripture tell us about the Head of the Church, Jesus Christ?I probably won’t be making any predictions about the End Times, but I do promise this will be a challenging and engaging series for us all! Come and hear a message of hope as we explore John’s vision of a New Heaven and a New Earth! Rev. Duncan A. MacLeod

April 2012March 2012February 2012January 2012December 2011November 2011October 2011September 2011At WONDERLAND Christian Preschool, we believe……that preschool is not so much about an age as it is about a continuum of readiness that leads to Kindergarten success. When choosing a class that is the right fit for your preschooler, it is important to take into consideration several factors. These include, but are not limited to, the number of years your child has before s/he enters Kindergarten and his/her previous learning experiences. Our goal is that each child who leaves our program loves God, serves others and is wonderfully prepared for Kindergarten. …that children have a unique sense of Jesus’ nature, and are in tune with their spirituality.Jesus told his disciples not to get in the children’s way when they came to see him. He clearly stated that we must receive God’s Kingdom like a little child. Jesus blessed the children, and took them into his arms. What a wonderful picture this paints of how we, as educators, are to accept children! …that God’s existence is central to our teachings.God reveals His nature to His children in several ways. He is revealed through His Word, the Bible. He is revealed through the teachings and life of His Son, Jesus Christ. He is revealed through His creation, the world. Jesus is the mediator between God and people. Jesus died for us so that our sins can be forgiven, and so that we can go directly to God with our praises and prayers. One who accepts Jesus becomes a Christian. The Holy Spirit teaches and guides each Christian to God’s truth.…that the purpose of education is to nurture and nourish. Our teachers and assistants prayerfully approach each school day. Lesson content and teaching methods are geared towards each child’s level of understanding. When children are engaged in meaningful activities, treated kindly, and taught to interact with one another, they learn important life-lessons.…that children succeed when a strong bond forms between family and school.Although we are not a “co-op” preschool and volunteer hours aren’t a requirement in order to attend WONDERLAND, the assistance provided by family members in our classrooms is a blessing. If you have the desire to help, we can always use extra hands. Our preschool team is excited to meet your preschooler and to welcome your family into ours!Requirements for attending WONDERLAND Preschool:•Preschooler will be 3 by August 31st of the 2011 school year•Preschooler is completely potty trained•Vaccination records are currentWONDERLAND 2011-2012 Preschool Class DescriptionsWONDERLAND offers preschoolers hands-on learning opportunities. Much of what happens here may look like play…because it is! Play serves an important function in a child’s physical, emotional, cognitive and social development. All classes are structured using social studies and science-based thematic units. Each theme includes a Bible story and memory verse. Preschoolers enjoy cooperative play in learning activity centers. These centers teach children math, science and pre-literacy concepts through the use of investigation, interaction, imagination and cooperation. Each class also attends “Chapel” weekly. During this exciting time of worship, children learn to pray, praise and listen to God’s word. We also use this time to bring offerings to the Compassion International child who WONDERLAND sponsors. Two Day ClassT/Th 9:00-11:30 a.m. $85/month*This class, designed for younger 3-year-olds, is perfect for beginners taking their first preschool steps. The two day class is a great introduction to a school setting, where children learn to make good choices, get along with others and gain independence. In addition to the above description, curriculum in this class focuses on colors, numbers, an introduction to letter names and simple math concepts and rhyming. This class is recommended for 3-year-olds who have a summer birthday, and for those who will have 3 years of preschool.Three Day ClassM/W/F 9:00-11:30 a.m. $95/month*This class, designed for older 3-year olds and 4-year olds with summer birthdays who will attend two yearsof preschool, is a beginning class for children who are ready for a bit more. Children who have spent time in Sunday School, gymnastics or other classroom-like settings are probably ready for the 3-day class. The curriculum for this class is very similar to that of the 2-day class, but the additional day provides more time for learning experiences.Morning Pre-KinderM-Th 9:00-11:30 a.m. $120/month*This class prepares 4-year-olds for Kindergarten by introducing letter names, sounds and formation, and important mathematical skills such as patterning, sorting and grouping in addition to the curriculum description above. Children leaving this class are well-prepared to enter Kindergarten; however, they may still choose to come back for another year in our afternoon Pre-Kinder class. This often becomes a wonderful option when children have a summer birthday. Afternoon Pre-KinderM-Th 12:30-3:30 p.m. $130/month*This class prepares 4-year-olds for Kindergarten, and also increases the amount of time spent at preschool each day. This is a great class for children who have already had one or two years of pre-school experience, and who will definitely enter Kindergarten in the following year. It is a great way to prepare children for the longer days they will experience in elementary school. Coffee Profile: Double-short, extra-dry cappuccino. I always considered myself "low-maintenance", but every Starbuck's barrista suspects otherwise.Job Description - Duncan was called as pastor of WestPres in June 2009. He leads the church through preaching and teaching, strategic planning and direction, and sometimes Clarence even lets him run the snowblower (He had to promise not to break it!). He has far too many hobbies and interests, though they make for interesting stories on Sunday mornings. Duncan can be reached in the office Sunday-Thursday most weeks, so feel free to book a coffee appointment at your earliest convenience!A Favorite Quote: "He [the man of faith] must seek his life in a spirit of furious indifference to it; he must desire life like water and yet drink death like wine." G.K. Chesterton, OrthodoxyA Favorite Scripture: Job 19: 25&27 "I know that my redeemer lives, and that in the end he will stand upon the earth. ... I myself will see him with my own eyes - I, and not another. How my heart yearns within me!"
